If you are a single issue voter, you are a Stoopid Sheep.

If you vote in retribution, you are a Stoopid Sheep.

If you automatically vote a straight ticket based on party affiliation, you are a Stoopid Sheep.

If you don’t know where your elected representatives stand on the major issues, you are a Stoopid Sheep.

If you do not hold your elected representatives responsible for their legislative actions, you are a Stoopid Sheep.

If you disapprove of the current administration’s policies, but have taken no action in response, you are a Stoopid Sheep.

If you have achieved Stoopid Sheep status, your feat has been acknowledged and memorialized on bumper stickers, including the following trite beauties:

Redemption is Possible

Cheer up.  You may be a Stoopid Sheep, but redemption is still possible.  You just need to meet your responsibility as a citizen to see that the President and your other elected representatives, at all levels of government, govern responsibly.  It’s really pretty simple.

First identify the major issues most important to you and your family, then determine your elected officials’ positions on each.  Use the internet to do so.  Do use fact-based sources, Snopes and the politicians’ own words whenever possible. Do not use opinion pieces or editorials.  Whatever you do, never, ever trust any media interpretations, prognostications or dire warnings.     Be careful to distinguish between what your elected representatives said they intended to do and what they have actually done.  Finally, consider the consequences of their actions, unintended and otherwise.

The Good News

Now that you have an improved understanding of the facts, you can convey your very specific expectations to your elected representatives.  The process is simple, rudimentary and far from perfect, but it sure beats bumper stickers for decision-making purposes.

The Bad News

It isn’t enough just to be better informed.  If you fail to use that knowledge to hold your elected representatives to account, or continue to make bad political decisions, you will still be a Stoopid Sheep.  You are responsible for your own poor choices, subject to the same sort of recognition, to wit:

This is an obvious and somewhat silly attempt to move a few bumper stickers, but the underlying point is valid.  Make informed political decisions – you owe it to yourself, your family and your country to do so.  Know why you believe what you do.

The greatest threat to an oppressive, socialist government, as ours is rapidly becoming, is an informed citizenry.  The sheer volume of information and disinformation available to us increases the difficulty in making well-informed decisions, but we have to do our best.

The threat is real and there are no do-overs with socialism.  You can’t just roll it back if it doesn’t work out.  America’s future is in your hands…choose wisely and don’t be a Stoopid Sheep.
